Houston Ballet The Nutcracker: Come experience the farewell to Ben Stevenson’s beloved production of The Nutcracker at the Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. The Houston Ballet will give 34 performances of Ben Stevenson’s version of The Nutcracker, to a live orchestra. This is a must-see show! (until December 27th)
Ice Skating with Santa at Discovery Green: Discovery Green, in the heart on Downtown, has its ice skating rink open until February 7th. On December 12th, 19th, and 26th from 4-5pm, the man in the jolly red suit will be on hand to skate with kids. Bring your camera for pictures!
Houston Zoo Lights: The Houston Zoo is opening up its doors at night for you to see all of the lights! Each evening, carolers and musical groups from around the greater Houston area perform holiday favorites for your delight, at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m (Until January 9th)
Bayou Bend: Holiday Time at Bayou Bend is known for its amazing decorations and rich portrayals of how Americans have celebrated the holidays through 250 years of history. The house and gardens at Bayou Bend feature spectacular lights, festive decorations, and lush greenery. Inside the home is where you will find the re-creations of Christmases past, and holiday music.
Prestonwood Forest Nite of Lites: Just off Highway 249, Prestonwood Forest residents have been going all out when it comes to Christmas lights. Houston locals and visitors alike come out to see one of the best neighborhood light displays in the country. These dazzling holiday lights have been featured in local newspapers, on Houston television, and even nationally on Fox News. About 750 homes participate in the Nite of Lites festival in Prestonwood Forest each year.
A Christmas Carol: Each year, the Alley Theatre in Houston hosts its annual production of A Christmas Carol. This classic tale features more than 30 characters, including Ebenezer Scrooge. The whole family will enjoy this play.(Until December 28th)
